Responsibilities
- Design and develop UAV mechanical structures and components.
- Develop and maintain 3D CAD models, assemblies, manufacturing drawings and technical documentation.
- Perform structural calculations and FEA simulations.
- Define load cases, boundary conditions, materials, constraints and safety factors.
- Optimise structures, materials and manufacturing processes, balancing weight, stiffness, strength, cost and manufacturability.
- Work together with the aerodynamics, electronics, avionics and production teams to ensure correct UAV integration.
- Prepare designs and manage suppliers for prototyping, manufacturing and series production.
- Take part in defining the structural requirements and in the evolution of the design throughout the different UAV development phases.
Technical skills
- Advanced command of mechanical design and 3D CAD modelling.
- Solid knowledge of strength of materials and aeronautical structures.
- FEA experience, including model preparation, meshing, definition of loads and boundary conditions, solving and post-processing.
